The School of Psychology at UC Chile invites applications for a 33 hours per week tenure track academic position in the category of Assistant or Associate Professor (Planta Ordinaria), with a focus on Adult Clinical Psychology.

Since its creation in 1957, UC Chile School of Psychology has trained more than 5,000 professionals and has established itself as one of the leading academic units in research, teaching and public engagement in the field of psychology in Chile and Latin America.

The School has an academic staff of more than 50 professors, approximately 900 undergraduate students and 120 graduate students. It offers Bachelor’s degree programs in Psychology, three Doctorates (Psychology, Psychotherapy, and Neurosciences) and four Master’s degrees (Clinical, Educational, Health, and Strategic People Management & Organizational Behavior).

Its work is articulated with multiple interdisciplinary research centers, promoting rigorous scientific training and an active commitment to human and social development.

Position Profile

We are seeking a faculty member with a Ph.D. to conduct research, teach, and engage with the community in the field of adult clinical psychology. The ideal candidate will have clinical and teaching experience in clinical psychology, experience in clinical supervision, and a track record of research in the diagnosis and treatment of complex disorders, as well as research in clinical skills training, including the design, implementation, and evaluation of training methods (e.g., structured supervision, simulation, standardized patients, or others).

Required and Desired Competencies

Particular emphasis will be placed on the ability to lead applied research projects in clinical psychology and clinical training, including the use or development of technologies for psychotherapy training and clinical skills (e.g., digital simulation, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, or other tools to support teaching and supervision), as well as collaboration within interdisciplinary teams and participation in international networks.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the Psychology program, including courses such as: Introduction to Clinical Psychology (PSI2406), Intervention Strategies in Clinical Psychology (PSI3544), and Clinical Psychology Praxis (PSI3544), among others.

Approximately 50% of the workload will be dedicated to teaching, equivalent to four courses per year, or three courses plus other teaching activities (such as master’s and doctoral thesis supervision).

During the first year, the expectation is one course per semester.

Likewise, the selected candidate is expected to:

• Develop lines of research with external funding.
• Supervise Master’s and/or Doctorate theses.
• Actively participate in the academic life of the School and in methodological and curricular initiatives.

Candidates are expected to be fluent in Spanish and English.

Prior teaching experience, proactivity, leadership, the ability to work in interdisciplinary teams, international networks, and prior collaborative work will be considered. Evidence of the development or evaluation of pedagogical strategies in clinical training is expected, including the design, evaluation, or innovation of clinical training strategies. Experience in securing funding for research in clinical psychology and/or clinical training will be valued. All of these qualifications will be evaluated taking into account the stage of the candidate’s academic career.

The candidate is expected to be available to start in the second semester of 2026.
