UC Chile invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the Institute of Physics in High-Energy Physics, at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.
Job Profile
We invite applications from candidates holding a doctorate degree and an internationally recognized research record in theoretical particle physics, with a particular focus in phenomenology. The ideal candidate should demonstrate expertise in particle phenomenology, including strong engagement with experimental results and implications for new physics.
We are seeking individuals with a dynamic and independent research, who are capable of integrating their work within a broader scientific context and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations within the Faculty, including topics such as collider physics, astroparticle physics, cosmology, condensed matter, and related fields.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Conduct internationally competitive research in theoretical particle physics with an emphasis on particle phenomenology.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate physics courses (in Spanish after one year).
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate research students.
- Apply for and secure external funding to support their research.
- Collaborate actively with the Physics Faculty.
- Engage in academic and institutional development.
- Depending on the candidate’s experience, additional criteria such as scientific outreach, research management, and service to the academic community may be considered in the evaluation process.
Appointment rank and salary will be determined according to the current university policies and regulations in place at the time of hiring.

Qualifications
Academic Degree:
- PhD in Physics or an equivalent qualification, with a specialization in theoretical particle physics.
Teaching Experience:
- Desirable experience in teaching undergraduate and graduate physics courses.
Research Experience:
- Outstanding research record demonstrated with publications in high-impact journals.
Availability:
- Ideally available from January 2026.

Selection Process
Applications will be evaluated by the Dean’s Advisory Committee for the Incorporation of Faculty Members of the Faculty of Physics. Final selections must be approved by the Faculty Council. For applicants considered for the Associate Professor rank, their dossiers must also be evaluated by the Central Associate Professors Committee.
If selected for the position, foreigners that apply from abroad must obtain the appropriate visa in their country of residence to join the University faculty.
