The Instituto Interdisciplinario de Estética [Interdisciplinary Institute of Aesthetics, IIE] of UC Chile invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position as Assistant Professor, with a primary affiliation with the IIE and a secondary affiliation with a department of the Faculties of Arts, Philosophy and Literature, to be determined.
Specialization:
The IIE seeks to hire a candidate who covers the studies of contemporary popular culture in its links with one of the following lines of work:

- Orality, poetry and/or literature.
- Urban dances and/or performance.
- Philosophy, Contemporary Thought and/or Indigenisms.
- Visual Arts, Graphics and Intermediality.
- Respect towards the values and mission of UC Chile.
UC Chile is one of the leading academic institutions in Latin America, ranked number 1 in the QS Latin American Ranking 2024. The IIE (https://estetica.uc.cl) is a space for interdisciplinary research and teaching belonging to the Faculties of Arts, Philosophy and Literature. It houses a group of researchers active in research projects and international networks, and teaches in the interdisciplinary Bachelor’s programs in Aesthetics (https://estetica.uc.cl/licenciatura/descripcion-y-perfil-de-egreso) and two Master’s programs in American Aesthetics (https://estetica.uc.cl/magister/magister-en-esteticas-americanas) and Film and Audiovisual Studies (https://estetica.uc.cl/magister/magister-estudios-de-cine), the latter in conjunction with the Faculty of Communications.

Qualifications
- PhD in Aesthetics or related field. Doctorates who formally address interdisciplinarity will be prioritized.
- (Near-)native Spanish fluency.
- Relevant experience in undergraduate and graduate research and teaching: publications, participation in competitively funded research projects, national and international conferences, organization of academic events, thesis guidance, (inter)national invitations, administrative positions or work, etc.

- Research Statement addressing projects for the upcoming 5 years.
- Course evaluations of the past two years.
- Two letters of recommendation.

Additional information
If selected for the position, a foreign national without permanent residence in the country or applying from abroad will need to apply for a visa in their home country to join the University's academic staff.
