UC Chile School of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor position in Veterinary Epidemiology within the tenure-track faculty. The selected candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to the institution and to training future professionals by delivering high-quality, innovative teaching and supporting undergraduate and graduate students in their learning process. A proven capacity for high-impact research is also expected, with the ability to lead original research programs funded by internal or external sources. The candidate should show, through their publications, the ability to establish an original research line in the field of Veterinary Epidemiology.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Biostatistics and Epidemiology and Public Health, as well as
    related postgraduate courses. Candidates must be highly motivated to continually improve
    their teaching skills and to use active learning methods.
  • Complete the UC Chile University Teaching Diploma offered by the Center for Teaching Development within three years of appointment.
  • Conduct basic and/or applied research in the field of Veterinary Epidemiology, establishing an original and impactful research line.
  • Proactively seek funding to support research activities.
  • Contribute to the School’s administrative and service activities as needed.
  • Support academic excellence and a positive work environment within the School and its
    founding Faculties.
  • Consistently demonstrate ethical, honest, and integral behavior, in full alignment with the
    values of the UC Chile community.

Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Veterinary Medicine, with a PhD or Doctoral degree in Epidemiology.
  • Applicants for the Associate Professor category must demonstrate a record of publications and successful external grant funding appropriate to the academic rank.

i. Personal Information: name, address, phone number, email, and website (if applicable).

ii. Education: list of academic degrees, including awarding institutions and dates (attach academic certificates).

iii. Teaching Experience: list of institutions, subjects taught, and type of participation (e.g., lead instructor, co-instructor, guest lecturer).

iv. Full list of publications indexed in WOS (Web of Science), including journal names and impact factors.

v. Research projects: specify role (PI, co-I, etc.), dates, awarded funding, and institutions involved.

vi. Other publications: those not indexed in WOS, case reports, book chapters, and conference participation.

vii. Additional information: student mentoring, awards, editorial boards, consulting, computer skills, languages, or any other relevant details.

  • Three letters of recommendation must be sent directly by the referees to:vacantesacademicas-vet@uc.cl by 31 July, 2025.
  • Once the application materials are received and the deadline has passed, candidates will be notified whether their application will proceed. Selected candidates will be invited to give an open seminar on their research area, a teaching demonstration related to the field, and interviews with the School of Veterinary Medicine’s Recruitment Committee.

Additional information

Foreign candidates applying from outside Chile must obtain the appropriate visa prior to joining the university's faculty. This visa can be processed at the Chilean consulate in their country of origin.
