Job description

Tipo de planta académica: Special Academic Track

Employment: Part-Time

The Faculty of Agronomy and Natural Systems (FASN) at UC Chile, one of Latin America’s leading academic institutions, invites outstanding candidates to apply for a part-time (33 hours) Assistant Professor teaching position in the area of Management and Administration of Agri-Food and Forestry Enterprises; more specifically, in the financial area, with demonstrated quality teaching experience in Accounting, Management Control and Project Formulation and Evaluation, as well as in Marketing, Foreign Trade, and International Marketing of Fruits.

Motivation

Teaching in management and administration is essential for training students in Agronomy, Veterinary Medicine, and Forestry. These disciplines require professionals able to combine strong technical competencies with knowledge in management, marketing, accounting, and project evaluation—key aspects for succeeding in the competitive agri-food sector.

The position requires a professional with competencies in national and international accounting standards (IFRS/NIIF), financial accounting, and cost accounting applied to the agri-food and forestry sector, and knowledge of management tools (KPIs, Balanced Scorecard, budgeting, activity-based costing). These capabilities are oriented toward understanding, applying, and analyzing management processes within their organizational context, with a strategic, technological, and sustainability-oriented perspective.

Duties

High-quality teaching (undergraduate and graduate) for students in Agronomy, Forestry, Veterinary Medicine, and/or Natural Resources. Given the need to foster interdisciplinary collaboration to address these challenges, the ideal candidate should be able to work collaboratively and potentially lead teams.

At the undergraduate level, the candidate will teach courses for students in Agronomy, Forestry, and/or Veterinary Medicine, as well as for graduate students. Accordingly, the candidate must be able to teach Accounting and Management Control, Management of Silvo-Agro Enterprises, and Economics and Management for Veterinary Medicine. The candidate is also expected to teach graduate courses in the MAGEA graduate program, such as Project Formulation and Evaluation, Foreign Trade Workshop, and Business Strategy.

Equal opportunity employer

UC Chile is committed to promoting equal opportunity, building an inclusive, diverse, and fraternal community, and fostering the academic development of women and men.

Qualifications

Applicants must be Agronomists, Foresters, or professionals from related fields, and must hold a Master’s degree in the area of management at the time of hiring. They are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, as well as excellent communication skills and verifiable evidence of quality teaching. It will be valued if the selected person has teaching experience in the area at the undergraduate or graduate level, as well as strong teaching evaluations. Also appreciated will be mastery of active teaching-learning methodologies (e.g., case studies, problem-based learning, simulations), along with the ability to motivate and guide students with varying levels of preparation, demonstrating analytical thinking, a critical approach, and clear oral and written communication.

Applicants must demonstrate a solid commitment to all aspects of academic life and to the public good of the institution. They should be highly motivated to continuously improve their teaching skills and have a genuine interest in engaging with our graduate programs.

An international applicant applying from abroad who is selected for the position will be required to obtain the appropriate visa from the consulate in their country of residence to join the University’s academic staff.
