UC Chile School of Law invites applications for a full-time academic position in Criminal Law (44 hours). Preference will be given to candidates in the early stages of their academic career to join as an Assistant Professor on the ordinary faculty track.
The role involves dedication to research, teaching, and service duties. Academic productivity should be demonstrated by publishing articles in indexed journals, books, or book chapters with prestigious publishers, participating as principal investigator in projects with internal and external funding, presenting at conferences and academic meetings, and promoting international cooperation and academic research networks.

Qualifications
- Applicants must hold a Doctoral Degree in Law. Exceptionally, candidates who have not yet obtained the degree but are in the final stage of their doctoral studies will be considered. In such cases, the Faculty reserves the right to annul the appointment if the candidate does not obtain the above-mentioned doctoral degree within one year of the appointment.
- Demonstrable research capacity.
- Teaching ability at the university level.
- Proficiency in at least one language other than Spanish.
- Commitment to UC Chile Principles³.
- Availability to begin duties no later than the first semester of 2026.
If selected for the position, a foreign applicant applying from abroad must obtain the corresponding visa at the consulate in their country of origin to join the University’s academic staff.

Required documents
The call for applications opens today, August 29, 2025. Applicants must submit the following documents no later than 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025:
- A motivation letter including a description of their qualifications for the position, as well as research and teaching plans. Please be specific regarding the latter two aspects.
- Curriculum vitae.
- Two letters of recommendation.
- A copy of the publication or manuscript considered most relevant to the application.
- Any other materials the applicant deems relevant.
The Dean’s Advisory Committee will review the applications for Faculty Appointments. The Committee comprises three full professors from the Faculty of Law, two full professors from another unit representing the University President, and the Law School Academic Secretary. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview and asked to deliver a 15- minute presentation on a topic within their expertise. The Faculty reserves the right to declare the competition void.
