Assistant or Associate Professor in Enology – Department of Fruit Production and Enology

Department of Fruit Production and Enology from Faculty of Agricultural and Natural Systems is now seeking applications for a full-time, tenure-track position for an assistant/associate professor in Enology.

Area of interest includes Agronomy, Enology and Bioprocessing. Desirable expertise involves one or more of the following areas; wine chemistry or physicochemistry, bioprocesses, sensory evaluation, enological unit operations or related areas. Preferred candidates should showcase the ability to develop research that links viticulture and enology.

Candidates also need to know the processes of other fermented and wine products, such as distillates and related systems.

Teaching responsibilities include courses at the undergraduate (e.g. Chemistry and wine analysis, Sensory evaluation) and graduate (e.g. related to their specific skills) levels. Teaching in Spanish is required.

Qualifications

For candidates whose undergraduate degree has been obtained in Chile or abroad, a degree equivalent, in either Agronomy, Agricultural sciences, Viticulture, Enology or other areas related to the required position.

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. degree at the moment of application in any relevant area related to this position: enology, , wine physicochemistry, wine chemistry, sensory evaluation, bioprocesses, viticulture sciences or the equivalent.

Experience in some or all of the following areas: physicochemistry of wine, wine chemistry, sensory analysis, wine bioprocesses, enological unit operations, fermented beverages, viticulture or the equivalent.

Evidence of research productivity, experience with interdisciplinary research, and record of obtaining external funding.

Teaching experience is highly desirable.

Availability: August 2025.

Area of specialization

Required: Agriculture-Enology and/or Enology.

Desirable: Fermented beverages and Sensory Analysis (qualitative and quantitative level).
