The Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy of UC Chile calls for a national and international competition to fill the position of Full Time Professor in Ordinary Academic Staff in the category of assistant or associate professor for the development of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and liaison with the environment in the area of Pharmacology.

Summary

The Faculty of Chemistry and of Pharmacy are seeking exceptional and highly motivated individuals for an Associate/Assistant Professor position. The person chosen for this position will be part of the School of Chemistry and Pharmacy; a diverse and interdisciplinary team, whose mission is to promote and cultivate the chemical and pharmaceutical sciences, motivated in the pursuit of excellence and academic rigor in all its aspects.

In Teaching: The successful candidate will undertake at least two undergraduate courses per year for the School of Chemistry and Pharmacy. In addition, he/she will be expected to formulate and/or participate in at least one postgraduate and/or elective course annually, related to his/her specific skills. All courses must be taught in Spanish. In addition, the selected applicant should be active in human capital formation through the direction of undergraduate and postgraduate theses.

In research: The person selected should promote and strengthen lines of research in the discipline of Pharmacology. The successful candidate will be expected to formulate and lead externally funded research projects, publish the results of his/her research in indexed mainstream journals (WoS) and generate national and international collaborative networks. In addition, he/she will develop links with the community and support technology transfer of research outputs in accordance with the standards established by UC Chile.

Qualifications

Profile: The applicant must have a degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacology, Neurosciences, Chemical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Medical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or related areas at the time of recruitment. Experience in basic, clinical or applied research in Pharmacology is desirable (not exclusive), demonstrated by scientific publications, externally funded research projects and national and international networks. Teaching experience in the area described and fluency in Spanish and English is desirable. Proactivity, leadership and the ability to work in interdisciplinary teams are expected.

  1. Written justification of the candidate's interest in the position to which he/she is applying, including a brief history of his/her scientific career and an academic proposal of insertion in the Faculty of Chemistry and of Pharmacy in research and teaching (maximum 3 pages).
  2. Curriculum Vitae, highlighting publications, projects and teaching in the last 5 years.
  3. Teaching evaluations or equivalent (if applicable).
  4. Two confidential letters of reference sent by mail with Subject: RECOMMENDATION LETTER Chemistry and Pharmacy Competition 2025 FQF-Pharmacology.
  5. Attach copy(s) of certificate(s) of degree(s) and Doctorate degree(s) obtained.

Additional information

A person of foreign nationality without permanent residence in the country or who applies from abroad, if selected for the position, will need to apply for a visa in his/her country of origin to join the academic staff of the University.
