The School of Architecture at UC Chile invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the area of Sustainable Architecture. This call is part of the institutional efforts to strengthen an architecture committed to the climatic, environmental, and social challenges associated with the design and construction of the built environment, through the incorporation of interdisciplinary approaches, technological innovation, and ethical responsibility.
General Description of the Position
UC Chile School of Architecture announces an academic call for a full-time faculty member in the area of Sustainable Architecture, with the ability to critically, creatively, and practically address the educational and applied research challenges we face at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
The selected candidate will contribute to the development of the academic body in the areas of teaching (undergraduate and graduate programs), research, outreach and public engagement, in line with the principles of excellence in student training, research, and contribution to the country’s development, as reflected in their academic trajectory, publications, and active participation in the university community.
Responsibilities of the Position: teaching, research, outreach and public engagement
- Teach architectural design studios and theoretical courses related to sustainability, energy efficiency, environmental design, and circular economy, among others.
- Develop and lead research and innovation projects in areas such as: sustainable architectural design with an emphasis on low- or zero-energy systems and facilities; climate change and energy management at the urban and building scales; applied research linked to industry.
- Actively participate in outreach activities, engagement with society, and cooperation with public, private, and community organizations on issues of sustainable architecture.
- Collaborate in academic management activities convened by the School of Architecture and contribute to the curricular development of sustainability-oriented educational lines.

Qualifications
Selection Criteria: Required Competencies and Knowledge
- Degree in Architecture, with doctoral studies in fields directly related to sustainability in architecture.
- Proven research experience in formal projects, preferably as principal investigator, in areas such as:
- Building systems and thermodynamics.
- Resilience and climate change.
- Circular economy.
- Development of products or materials focused on building sustainability.
- Experience in supervising master’s theses.
- Ability to integrate technical, social, and environmental knowledge in teaching and research.
- Experience working in interdisciplinary teams and being part of national and international academic networks.
- Indexed publications (WOS and/or Scopus) related to their line of research.
- Academic-level proficiency in English.
Other Desirable Requirements
- Previous teaching experience in national and/or international higher education institutions (preferably).
- Experience in research projects linked to industry.

Availability:
- Starting date: January 2026.
- Full-time dedication (44 hours/week).

A candidate of foreign nationality without permanent residency in Chile, or applying from abroad, if selected for the position, will need to apply for and obtain the corresponding visa in their country of origin in order to join the university faculty.

- Applications will be assessed according to the academic career stage of the candidates.
- In the case of selection for the Associate Professor category, the candidate will require approval from the Provost’s Advisory Committee to be appointed to that rank.
